Three Phases of Evolution

Bangwing IN evolved through three distinct phases, each marking a significant expansion in scope, identity, and community structure.

Phase 01

2022 — Foundation

"Dragons"

Originated as a private Minecraft SMP group. A team named "Dragons" developed foundational values — teamwork, conflict resolution, collaborative project management, and trust-based leadership — that continue to define the community today.

Phase 02

2022 — Expansion

"Dragonspire"

As the community expanded beyond gaming, a rebrand to "Dragonspire" established a broader identity: "the spire where dragons find rest." Creative channels, multi-interest role systems, and cultural spaces were introduced during this phase.

Phase 03

January 10, 2023 — Present

"Bangwing IN"

Following naming conflicts, the community adopted its current identity. "Bang" represents impactful presence; "Wing" symbolizes freedom and lift. This phase formalized the governance structure, proprietary bot infrastructure, and the 8-department policy framework.

Community rules are formally divided into eight departments, each governing a specific domain of member behaviour, staff conduct, or operational procedure. This structure ensures transparency, accountability, and consistent enforcement across all community interactions.

Freedom Department

Protects balanced self-expression while restricting content that causes harm. Covers opinion sharing, satire standards, dangerous misinformation, political and religious discussion boundaries, and members' right to understand moderation actions taken against them.

Governs all user-generated content: art, photography, writing, music, and shared media. Establishes intellectual property standards, appropriate content requirements for a mixed-age audience, and defines prohibited content categories.

Intent-Based Enforcement

Under the Compliance Department (Dept. 06), moderation responses are calibrated to the intent behind a violation — not solely to its severity. This framework underpins the community's non-ban, rehabilitation-focused approach.

Accidental Genuine mistake; member lacked knowledge of the applicable rule. Education, guidance, and clarification.
Negligent Member should have known better; careless disregard of established rules. Warning with accountability; possible minor consequences.
Reckless Member knowingly took risks that community rules exist to prevent. Significant consequences and monitoring.
Malicious Intentional harm; premeditated or sustained rule violation. Severe consequences, up to permanent mute.
Non-Ban Policy: Bangwing IN maintains a formal non-ban policy for human members. Permanent mutes, temporary cooloffs, and documented appeal processes are used in place of account bans. All moderation actions require verifiable evidence and must comply with the standards of the Issue Resolution and Compliance Departments.
